Organ chipsand Organ chips and microphysiological systems are included in the bill as independent non clinical experimental drug evaluation systems. Organ chips and cell models, computer modeling, and animal models are considered equally important research methods.

In 2010,Organ ChipsTechnology has truly embarked on a fast track of development. From early organ chip prototypes, single organ chips such as lungs, intestines, and liver, to multiple organ chips connected in series, researchers have gradually developed models with more complete and complex functions and higher simulation.

In 2020, the Chinese Academy of Engineering will select organ chip as the global engineering frontier technology.

Organ like organisms prefer biology, and use cytokines to induce adult stem cells to self assemble to form human micro organs. Its advantage lies in its high fidelity, which has highly similar histological characteristics and functions to human organ, but has limitations in controllability and repeatability.

Organ chips tend to biomedical engineering, which is based on microfluidic chips to build human organ physiological microsystems. It has advantages in the controllability and standardization of modeling, and can realize the construction of more complex models through co culture technology; however, organ chip models built from a single kind of cells are far from bionic in biology.
